HEYWOOD IN BLOOM IN 2026

Since the new committee took over managing Heywood in Bloom we have learned a lot, done a lot, and had a lot of fun doing it.
This year’s portfolio is a celebration of a year of growth, development, and change since those balmy days in June 2025 when the judges visited us for our annual tour of Heywood.
One big change is that we had intended to further develop the BT Garden, however following discussions with BT we were informed that they could no longer support our continued presence on the site. As a result, and after consideration, we withdrew from the site and discontinued our plans for further development.
In 2025 the judging days were on the 17th and 19th of June, and are a focal point for our ongoing activities throughout the year.

Heywood’s fabulous 1940’s day, when people visit from across the country to enjoy street performances, a parade of vintage transport, and people dressing as they would have in the 1940’s, were on the weekend following the Judging, Because we had prepared all the gardens, planters, and the Town Centre for the judging the people attending the towns biggest event were able to feast their eyes on the colour and vibrancy that Heywood in Bloom creates. We received so many plaudits from local people for our efforts that we  decided in future to ensure that our planting is always in time for 1940’s day.

It wasn’t just the people who enjoyed our planting. There have been many more insects in and around our busy town centre, the lavender provided them with a real buzz.We look forward to welcoming the Judges again this year to discuss our progress and to show them that Heywood In Bloom is growing and thriving.
